The Killarney Rugby Football Club Golf Classic takes place this year on Friday 30th June at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club’s Mahony’s Point course.

There will be great prizes to play for on the day including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin while there will be a Hole-in-One competition during the Golf Classic as well. The Killarney RFC Golf Classic novel Hole-in-One competition will be played on the iconic & picturesque 18th hole at Mahony’s Point and will certainly provide a fantastic final challenge to the golfing day supporting Killarney Rugby Club. Resurgent Ring of Kerry

I visited the Ring of Kerry Golf Club recently and was blown away by the location, the condition of the course and also the new setup in the Clubhouse as well. Significant investment has been made to ensure the course is kept in great shape along with the providing Bar & Restaurant facilities to match.

The County Kerry venue is located in a beautiful spot overlooking Kenmare Bay on the beautiful Ring of Kerry. The course measures 6,663 yards from the back tees and it is the last ever design from the late and great Irish golf architect, Eddie Hackett. The par-73 layout has 9 par-4s, 5 par-5s and 4 par-3s to make it a great test of golf for all levels, significant investment has also been made in the course drainage and the greens are some of the best, if not the best, putting surfaces I have played on this year.

Facilities at the Ring of Kerry Golf Club include a Driving Range located less than a wedge from the Clubhouse while the new Greens Bar & Restaurant has been getting rave reviews from golfers and non-golfers alike! Having seen their cocktail menu as well a good day and night could definitely be had at Greens, unfortunately I wasn’t able to sample their cocktails on the day!! Greens is suitable for smaller groups, corporate functions and wedding – the menu options and service is superb as well.

Membership at the Ring of Kerry GC is great value as well, just €270 for Ladies or Gents with Junior Membership only €55 per annum also. Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase (which can be done online!) and includes the following benefits:

  • Unlimited golf at any time that the course is open for play
  • Kerry Golf Card, which entitles you to discounted Green Fees at other Kerry courses
  • Opportunity to participate in all weekly tournaments, major events and team matches
  • GUI Handicap Card status (additional €30 adults / €6 juniors)
  • A dual courtesy playing rights promotion with Clement Ader Golf Club near Paris in France (Full time residents of Ireland only)
  • 6 Courtesy Rounds of golf at Parknasilla Golf Club
  • Member guest rates

Society Golf is also wonderful value at Ring of Kerry Golf Club, just €25 per person with fantastic Golf & Dinner packages as well including one phenomenal view for the post golf festivities! There are also some excellent accommodation rates locally for Play & Stay packages. A night out in Kenmare after a Round of Golf at the Ring of Kerry GC, followed by dinner at Greens and maybe a few cocktails sounds like Heaven to me!
