All Ireland Golf Challenge

Experience Ireland Golf & Travel is delighted to launch the Inaugural All Ireland Golf Challenge! 4 Provincial Qualifiers will take place from May to August with The All Ireland Final taking place on Friday 20th September at The Heritage where the All Ireland Champions will be crowned. This will be a Team of 4 Event, who wants to be our Inaugural Champions??

We will be off to the superb Slieve Russell first for the Ulster Qualifier on Friday 24th May. The county Cavan course is synonymous with hosting great Golf Events and was recently voted the 2018 Golf Resort of the Year in Ulster. Forming part of a magnificent 300 acre estate, including 50 acres of lakes, our highly acclaimed 18-hole championship course is sensitively wrapped around the lakes and the drumlins of the County Cavan landscape. The course presents a wonderful challenge and the devilishly tricky greens present a searching examination of accurate approach play, which adds to the enjoyment factor. Next up will be the Connaught Qualifier at Galway Bay Golf Resort on Friday 7th June. Galway Bay is a golfing gem in the West of Ireland and has come in for rave reviews of the past few years. No stranger to hosting big Events it will host the Connaught U16 Open this year among other Tournaments. Designed by Irish golfing legend Christy O’Connor Jnr, the man himself had this to say about Galway Bay: “This is a true championship golf course with a fair test of golf to all who discover this gem. Washed on three sides by the wild Atlantic ocean laden with pot bunkers together with natural water hazards combines to make Galway Bay one of the truly great courses of Ireland“. The Leinster Qualifier will take place in July when we visit The Heritage on Friday 5th July. This Seve Ballesteros designed masterpiece, his first and only design in Ireland, is a great golfing test from start to finish with the highlights hole being the par-4 9th & 18th which run parallel to each other towards the amazing Clubhouse separated by a large and wonderful water hazard. The Heritage is a wonderful venue and has hosted many Tournaments down the years including the Seve Trophy in 2007 and The Heritage Pro-Am for many years. The final Qualifier will take us to Munster and the Killeen Course at the superb Killarney Golf & Fishing Club on Friday 16th August. This will present Teams the last chance at making it to our All Ireland Final in September, in stunning surroundings. The Killeen has hosted The Irish Open 4 times, in 1991 & 1992 (both won by Nick Faldo) and also in 2010 & 2011 (won by Ross Fisher & Simon Dyson respectively). The Killeen course is one the most scenic inland courses in Ireland, surroundings by the marvellous Macgillycuddy Reeks and also the Lakes of Killarney, it truly is a golfing treat! The Winning Team from each Qualifier will then contest The All Ireland Golf Challenge Final on Friday 20th September at The Heritage. The Format of our Provincial Qualifiers is simple – Team of 4 Event with 2 scores to count on each Hole. Max Handicap for Ladies is 36 and 28 for Gents, you must have an Official Handicap to compete in the Event. The cost to enter is €125 per person / €500 per Team and includes the following:

Mid West Alliance Golf 2018

The Mid West Alliance have finalised their 2018 Fixtures and along with a new Format they are ready for the new golfing season!

2017 MWA Champ Peter O’Keeffe

The Mid West Alliance is open to golfers under 9 handicap and will have 3 Categories within their 2018 Events – Category 1 will be for 3 handicap and lower, Category 2 will be for 4-9 handicap golfers while their new Over 45s Category (sponsored by Kemmy Stonecraft) will be just that, for Over 45s under 9 handicap. The MWA will have 7 Events in 2018 with the best 4 cards from each golfer to count towards the Shootout at Trump Doonbeg! The Top 18 that will contest the Shootout will be made up of the Top 6 from each Category. As per previous Alliances, the scoring format will be Gross Stableford.

After the 7 events The Top 18 will contest the “Sunday Shootout” at Trump Doonbeg on Sunday 8th April 2018 where the Mid West Alliance 2018 Champion will be crowned!! Your top 4 scores from the Events will carry over into the Shootout.

Race to the Algarve at The Heritage GC

The Heritage Golf Club is delighted to host the Race to the Algarve 2016 in association with GoGolfWorldwide.com!

• Weekly competitions will take place between November 20th 2015 and March 31st 2016 with an Order of Merit deciding the top 16 golfers who will tee it up next April with the overall champion winning a golf holiday in the beautiful Algarve.
• The Grand Prize winner will receive a 5 day holiday for 2 people with UNLIMITED GOLF!
• A weekly prize will be awarded to the best score each week as well as order of merit points.
• 50 points will be awarded for 1st Place each week, 40 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 20 for 4th and 10 for 5th. 5 points will be awarded to all golfers who enter a weekly competition if they do not feature in the top 5.

The Heritage Pro-Am 2015

Everybody at The Heritage is delighted that we are once again hosting our Pro-Am over the June Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 31st May & Monday 1st June 2015! The tournament will again be sponsored by Aidan O’Connell & Associates Ltd., while there will also be significant support from our new owners, the PGA of Ireland, Judge Roy Beans Bar/Restaurant, our Members & Friends.

We have still have some team spots available at present with the entry fee costing the same as in previous years, €600 per team of 3 Amateurs & 1 PGA affiliated professional. The team package includes the following:

2 rounds of Golf at The Heritage with a PGA Professional
Gift Bag including a Memento from the Tournament
2 course meal following golf each day
Music & Entertainment in the Clubhouse on the Sunday night

Easter Open Competitions at The Heritage

The Heritage will be hosting the following Open Competitions over the Easter Holidays and we hope you can make it to take on the challenge of The Ballesteros course!

Friday 3rd April (Good Friday), Open Singles at €35 per person
Monday 6th April (Easter Monday), Open Singles at €30 per person
Tuesday 7th April, Easter Junior Open Single at €20 per person (Junior Golfers – under 18s only)

Heritage Seve Series
The first Seve Series event take place on Monday 6th April and will run until every Monday until late September. The Winners and Runners Up from each week will get a place in the Seve Series Final in October with the Overall Winner getting a 2 night stay for 4 people including Breakfast in one of our Luxury Apartments and 2 rounds of Golf!

We have 4 categories of Membership at The Ballesteros Course – Full Male; Full Female; Student & Junior membership. Full Male Membership is available on a 7-day basis for €1,000 while Full Female 7-day membership is €745. 5-day Membership is available on request by calling Dean Redmond on 057-8642326 or you can email in your enquiry to dredmond@theheritage.com. Student Membership is available for €330 per person while Junior Membership of our “Seve Club” is €220.

News from the Course

Our bunker programme begun in November with significant work being undertaken on all bunkers around the course. The main aim is to bring them back to fully playable levels and also ensure they drain better in times of torrential rain.

Irish Women’s Elite Panel to train at Heritage Golf School

The Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU) is delighted to announce plans to base its winter High Performance Training Programme at the elite golf facilities at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in Killenard, Co. Laois.

The programme will see Ireland’s top female amateurs avail of the world class facilities on offer at the Seve Ballesteros ‘Natural’ Golf School. Under the guidance of High Performance Manager David Kearney, a host of expert service providers in the areas of swing and short game analysis, strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology will deliver a robust training regime to the ILGU’s elite panel of players.

The squad members will stay on site at the 5 star hotel and avail of the extensive gym and spa facilities. Their holistic programme is designed to cover all aspects of the game. Weekend training sessions will take place from November through March next year with a week long session planned for the mid-term break in February.

Ryder Cup Day 1 Open Singles at The Ballesteros Course

To celebrate the opening day of this year’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles Niall and his team at The Ballesteros Course have decided to run an Open Singles competition on Friday September 26th. Seve Ballesteros, The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort’s iconic course designer, is of course synonymous with the Ryder Cup and they see it as a fitting tribute to the great man.

The competition on the day will be singles stableford off the white tees with an entry fee is € 30 per person to include a € 5 Food & Beverage voucher so you can enjoy the surroundings of our sumptuous clubhouse after your round and watch the days play unfold.

PubFinder.ie Golf Day 2014

There are few better combinations than Golf and the 19th Hole! The PubFinder.ie Golf Day will very much combine these two on Friday 19th September at The Ballesteros Course at the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort.

PUBFINDER.IE is a dedicated internet advertising site for pubs, clubs, accommodation, events, dining and cinema. Over the coming months an APP will be available but at present the PubFinder site is responsive for viewing on all types of devices like iPhones, iPads, laptops and desktops PubFinder will be a number one search for planning great nights out whatever or wherever the occasion. Establisments, for less than the cost of a pint a week, can advertise on a mass scale to user’s of the site and app and attract customers advertise as many events, entertainment and promotions on a on a daily basis along with accommodation and dinning. Cinema’s can advertise their listings and times to users of the site or far less than any other advertising source.

The PubFinder.ie Golf Day will take in a Team of 4 format with 2 scores to count on each hole, the max handicap allowance being 28 for Men and 36 for Ladies. The entry fee is €260 per team (€65 per person) to include Golf for 4 people, Dinner for 4 people, Goody Bags and entry into the Hole-in-One competition on the day which will have prizes such as a trip to the 2015 Masters Tournament courtesy of PGE Golf!

Tee times will be available from 7.30am until 3.00pm and there will be 2 Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive competitions on the day also. First Prize will be 4 iPads while there will also be some other fantastic prizes with the overall prize fund being close to €5,000! Play during the PubFinder.ie Golf Day will be recorded on video as well so golfers will get the chance to watch the good, and bad, shots in the Clubhouse after they have played!
